How To Buy A New Stick

Since the Chapman Stick is a custom-made instruments, to buy a new Chapman Stick, you have to contact directly the Stick Enterprises in California. The phone number is (818) 884-2001.

You can choose the kind of tuning, wood, pickups, inlays, winding heads and frets for your Stick. You have to decide which string gauge you prefer, because if you change your mind about the strings' gauge later, when you already have the Stick, you will have to set up your Stick again at the Stick Enterprises.

If you cannot make up your mind as to which Stick to buy, you can get plenty of advice from the Stick players at www.stickist.com. You can post your questions on the forum there or you can sunscribe to the mailing list. Stick Players are extrlemly friendly and helpful people. You can also attend a Stick seminar to actually see and try a Stick. You don't have to own a Stick in order to join a Stick seminar.

Be patient! It may take from half a year to a year to receive your Stick from the time you placed your order. The prices on the Stick vary depending on the type of the Stick and accessories you order. You can check the prices on the www.stick.com price page.

There are official Stick Enterprises representitives outside the United States:

In Spain or Argentina, contact the Stick Center

In Holland, Belgium or Luxemburg contact Ron Baggerman

In Italy contact Virginia Splendore

How To Buy A Used Stick

If you want to buy a used Stick, there are different ways to do so:

1. You can buy a used but totally rebuilt, refurnished and adjusted Stick at the Stick Enterprices. Call the Stick Enterprices to check if there is any available.

2. If you live in or travel to the United States, check local music stores, sometimes people sell their Sticks through them.

3. Check the buy/sell section of the forum of www.stickist.com or post your add there and subscribe to the Stick News Digest of the Stick Enterprises. Stick players often sell/exchange their Sticks through these Websites.

4. You can buy at Ebay. Insert the words Chapman Stick into the search field. There are usually a few Chapman Sticks at auction on Ebay. Just be aware of frauds taking place on Ebay!!! By now, the stickist.com members managed to spot all the fraudulent sales! Since every Stick has its serial number, you can get the details on the owner of the Stick through the list of Stick owners and serial numbers. If you cannot meet the Stick seller because he is living in a different city or country, try and contact a Stick player living in the area. You can find a Stick player by country, state or city on Greg Howard's Stick Players Online Directory or on Stickists of the World map. Calling the Stick Enterprises and checking who the owner of the Stick is according to the serial number can be also a good idea.

Good luck and happy tapping!
