Showcase

Many people have heard about the Stick. Most of them know about it thanks to Tony Levin. They are unaware, though that there is a number of other great talented musicians who play the Stick solo or in bands. For this reason, I have decided to create this page on which I will present such Stick players to the readers, especially to those in Israel and in Russia. On this page, each month you are going to meet a different artist and get acquainted with his or her music.

This month, I'd like you to meet:

Glenn Poorman (Detroit, USA)

Glenn Poorman struck me with his music, playing technique and handling with loops from the first sight and immediately became one of my favorite Stick players.

Glenn is a musician of very extensive musical background. He started playing the piano in his early childhood, and later he took up the saxophone. He majored in saxophone at Eastern Michigan University and while being a freshman, also started playing the guitar. He joined the band Coup Detroit, with which he is still playing, initially as a guitarist and keyboard player. With the band, he performed in numerous shows before large crowds.

Already back in 80's, Glenn got interested in looping and started experimenting with it equipped with a simple delay that was available at that time.

Glenn started playing the Chapman Stick in 1999, and today he is considered one of the top Stick players. Glenn appears with his Stick and two Echoplex loopers in his solo concerts and together with Cout Detroit, captivating the public with his electric and energetic tunes.

Glenn also gives Stick lessons and regularly organizes Midwest Stick seminars.

Enjoy your trip into the amazing world of Glenn Poorman's music!
