Here are some of the CD's of Stick artists I have in my collection. Note that the order of the albums is alphabetical by the name of the artist and does not represent my preferences. |

Chris Crain's original compositions as well as his interpretations of
pop and jazz tunes played in Crain's typical jazzy and melodical style
with rich and bright Stick sound.

Besides Don's lyrical mood, the album "Wait By The River" can be characterized by Don's vivid solos and groovy bass lines on the NS Stick and beautifully processed vocal choruses. The album includes Don Schiff's true masterpiece "Deep Within My Soul" and a masterly performed solo on the NS Stick.

Guillermo's usage of the Stick is stunning. All the sounds, from percussive to ambient, are produced solely on the Chapman Stick with no MIDI. The music of the album is energetic and emotive, with every emitted sound filled with weight and significance, and his technique is outstanding. The album contains Guillermo Cides' original compositions as well as his arrangements of pieces by Gismonti, Chapman, Piazzolla. As an excelent supplement to the music, each song of the CD is accompanied by an artwork by the artist Erica Selinger.

Another outstanding album of Cides' passionate music played entilrely on the Stick, with the exception of percussion in a few songs performed by Caturga Percussion Group and Leo Fernandez. The sound of Guillermo's Stick is amazingly clean and rich, be it natural or heavily processed, and the flight of his fantasy is unlimited and unpredictable. Besides his original songs, Guillermo Cides presents on his CD his arrangements of Bach's Pasacalia and of Tehuelche Indians' traditional war song. You may be well surprised by hearing Guillermo singing beautifully in one of the songs and by hearing a song performed live on six Sticks by the Ensemble of Stickistas.

"Irene is a singer, Stick player and music programmer. Her debut solo album is played almost entirely on the Chapman Stick, with the exception of vocals and drums. Though called a solo album, the CD is in fact the fruit of collaboration of musicians from different countries: Irene Orleansky (Israel), Kirill Malahov (Russia) and Guillermo Cides (Spain). In addition to Irene's sensual vocals and bass and guitar-like lines on the Chapman Stick, Kirill, with whom Irene has been working closely together for more than ten years now, will treat the listeners to his strong vocal, groovy drum loops and outstanding sound and Guillermo will voodoo with his Stick and loops in a few songs. The CD will also include club remixes by one of the top European dj's."

The album of original instrumental music by John Edmonds recorded with the Grand Stick and Kurzweil PC2. Each composition of the CD is named after one of the coldest places on Earth. From the first note, mesmerizing sub-low sounds, amazingly processed Stick themes and interesting rythms of percussion loops get you absorbed in a special and somehow surrealistic atmosphere and hold you there till the very end.

Oxygene8 is the trio of Linda Cushma (vocals, MIDI Stick), Frank D'Angelo (MIDI Klein electric guitar) and Tim Alexander (drums).
The music stuns by the contrast between the energetic and intensive drum rythms and bass and guitar lines and the tender voice of Linda.
Her singing and lyrics in the songs "Larry's Lullaby" and "Heart To Weep" are especially touching. There are also a few instrumental pieces on the CD, in which
the musicians use the possibilities of their instruments to full extend.

The album of instrumental music by the duo of Italian Stick players Virginia Splendore and Roberto Fiorucci.
The duo's approach to the instrument is graceful, exquisite and refined. The tone and the harmonies of their music is captivating and relaxing.
If you want to know what the beautiful clean sound of the Stick is, this is the album to pick up.
